morning iced matcha latte
when i wake up in the morning, matcha is a must to help give me energy for the day. coffee often leaves me super jittery & and anxious, so be sure to listen to your body to see what works best for you!
nowadays i alway see matcha lattes at coffee shops, but the matcha (almond milk) lattes are made with barista blend-type almond milk that includes extra sugar and other ingredients like gellan gum. so, i prefer making mine at home where i can use my malk unsweetened almond milk that includes just almonds, himalayan salt, & filtered water.
there are so many different substitutions/additions to this recipe- these are just the basic ingredients i always start with (my fav additions/substitutions below)
the ingredients:
1 tsp of ceremonial grade matcha
1 tsp of water
8 oz of almond milk
1/2-1 tsp of agave nectar
the process:
whisk together the matcha powder and the water until the clumps are gone, then, in a mason jar w ice and almond milk, add in the agave and matcha mixture. put the lid on (important step :)) and shake until all mixed together - viola!
pro tip: i use a matcha whisk to get all the clumps out and make a super smooth matcha latte
ideas for additions/substitutions: substitute pecan/cashew/coconut/oat/pumpkin seed milk for almond milk... substitute honey for agave nectar, add tonics/herbs like ashwagandha, cordyceps, & maca... add in cinnamon, vanilla, or cardamon... add in flavors like lemon, lavender, or rose... make it creamier w coconut butter, ghee, collagen peptides, canned coconut milk
